Psychiatric Rehabilitation Supports Recovery: How it Fits into Your Agency's Business Model

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
Doug has worked more than 30 years as both a clinician and as a policy maker. Currently, Doug is the Behavioral Health Managed Care Technical Assistance Specialist for the NYS Office of Mental Health. Prior to that, Doug was the Director of Program Coordination and Support and was responsible for adult rehabilitation services and care coordination services. He has committed his career to helping people with behavioral health conditions live the type of life they want in the community they choose to live in.

This 2-part training will be offered on the following dates:
PART 1: Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 12:00-1:00pm
PART 2: Monday, June 12, 2017 from 12:00-1:00pm
ABOUT THE COURSE:
In New York State there are many options to fund quality rehabilitation and recovery services for adults. Understanding the nuances of these services to educate recipients, staff, administrators, care managers and managed care organizations. The practices of consumer centered planning, informed choice, shared decision making are all part of the essential goal – to assist people with behavioral health conditions to overcome the barriers by using their abilities and teaching compensatory skills combined with treatment so they may achieve their chosen goals.
The first part will cover the psychiatric rehabilitation, service design, what are some evidence-based practices to promote thinking about service provision to adults.
The second part will cover:
- How these practices and services can fit into your agency design;
- How adult services are funded:
- State aid funding,
- Medicaid funded state plan services, and
- Medicaid funded adult behavioral health HCBS services.
- How funding of adult behavioral health HCBS services are designed to reimburse an agency for the provision of services rather than viewing this funding as a revenue stream to pay an agency’s bills.
Participants will understand the benefits of mental health services that are recovery oriented.
Participants will understand the importance of consumer-centered planning.
Participants will understand how services are funded in the New York State's public mental health system.
$100.00 per person includes both parts of the training program. Participants MUST attend both parts to receive a Certificate of Completion awarding 2.0 continuing education hours.
